Love Is Just Around The Corner

I am honored that Mel Tormé and Johnny Mathis recorded some songs of mine, ever so beautifully. I was so amazed by Mel’s scat tour de force that I had to make it my nod to the great Tormé. To my knowledge, this piece had only been performed with the late great jazz pianist, George Shearing, but never fully orchestrated. Once again, Citrus alum David Catalan's arrangement and Citrus College Blue Note Orchestra did a masterful job of knocking this one out of the park! Just released music video with Barry Manilow

My precious friend, Barry Manilow, suggested this song, "For Me and My Gal". We both loved the original version, sung by Kelly and Judy Garland, from the film of the same name. Peter Hume did a wonderful orchestration. "Singing with Barry is always a treat as he is a consummate musician, we've known each other for so long. We were there at the beginning of each other's long, enduring careers and we are still devoted friends." Read Melissa's interview with BILLBOARD here.

Melissa Manchester is one of the greatest female vocalists of all time. Her velvety, soulful voice is unmistakable, and I always look forward to new music from this immensely talented songstress. More than 25 years after Melissa Manchester released Tribute, her 1989 album that honored the great female singers who influenced her, she turns the tables with The Fellas, a radiant encomium to the men, including Frank Sinatra, Mel Tormé, Tony Bennett, and Dean Martin, and the iconic songs they made famous. The Fellas is available everywhere on September 8. This album is the Grammy award-winning [...]

On Monday, Melissa Manchester gave fans a taste of her forthcoming album, The Fellas, sharing the album opener and first single, “Ain’t That A Kick In The Head,” via her social media channels. Her rambunctious, horn-filled version of the song swings exuberantly from the rafters. “I wanted to invite the audience in, right away, to what the album and song was going to feel like,” says Melissa Manchester. The classic song was first recorded in 1960 by Dean Martin, who also performed it in the film Oceans 11 the same year. [...]

This is where I was yesterday. Sharing a historic moment with 750,000 fellow/sister citizens at the Women's March #womensmarchla. It was not my first march but it was for thousands in the crowd. I'd flown across the country from Massachusetts, early in the morning, watching CNN on the flight as it showed the remarkable march unfold while the sun was coming up across our beautiful nation.

Singer/songwriter Melissa Manchester performs her original Hanukkah single, "Let There Be More Light," on Good Day Chicago's two-hour holiday special on Christmas day. Anchor Sylvia Perez says, "We wanted to make sure we included a Hanukkah segment in the show and Melissa's song is just perfect. We've been so excited about this." The song was written in answer to a terrorist bombing at a prayer meeting in Mumbai that claimed the life of a young rabbi and his pregnant wife. Manchester had the occasion to meet the young rabbi's best friend, also a rabbi, and to [...]

Let There Be More Light – Happy Hanukkah

In 2008, there was an awful massacre in Mumbai - a bomb blast in a Chabad Center, a place to service the needs of the entire community. A young rabbi and several others who worked there were murdered. I was shaken by this and wanted to sit among other Jews, somewhere, in order to mourn this awful occurrence...
