Melissa is returning to the stage this summer, joining the cast of Cagney the Musical at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, New York.
Taking on the role of Ma Cagney, Melissa portrays the steadfast “touchstone” and mother of the legendary Hollywood tough guy and dancer, James Cagney. This production follows her acclaimed performance in Funny Girl, which earned her honors from the Boston Theater Critics Association.

Director Will Pomerantz expressed his excitement about Melissa joining the company, citing her decades of artistry and her deep-rooted love for live theater.

The production runs from June 30 through July 26, 2026. Cagney the Musical tells the story of James Cagney’s rise from a New York street brawler to a silver-screen icon, featuring a high-energy score and plenty of tap dancing.
